Did you know that Twitter was launched 10 years ago? Or that Instagram is only five years old?
One of the most exciting things about the pace at which innovation happens, new products become an important part of the everyday lives of hundreds of millions of people in the blink of an eye.
The story is no different when it comes to sports on the Gold Coast. While many of us are familiar with “tried-and-true” ways of hard work and practice to improve your golf swing or hitting the tennis ball against a brick wall etc. — there’s a whole new wave of exciting technologies that are emerging right now here on the Gold Coast.
What are they? And more importantly, how can you leverage them? To find out, let’s take a look at some of new sports venue KDV Sport that acquired Carrara Gardens Golf Course in 2011, with aim to of building an international quality sport academy. While KDV Sport is not part of Commonwealth Games, it has built a new undercover Golf driving range, 18-hole mini-golf, and 20 tennis courts. The gym is opposite commonwealth Games complex in Carrara.
Being passionate about technology, I find it amazing to see how innovation is changing the ways of golf and now golfers have access to world class technologies such as
- Trackman – 3D ball flight measurement equipment changes the way players think, practice, and makes it easy to get fitted for golf clubs.
- GASP (Golf Swing Analysis Software) – using a 3D sensor vest to perfect the swing using on-screen drawing tools, action replay, and can capture up to 8 cameras at once.
- K-VEST – an all-in-one capture, analysis, and training solution that allows a golfer to easily measure swing, efficiency, and movement patterns using capture 3D and video. The results can be compared in split-screen mode.
- SAM BalanceLab – an ultra-high resolution force plate to evaluate balance and weight transfer during a golf swing. It can then allow you, using split screen mode, to directly compare yourself against professional players.
The company is planning, in late 2017, the complexation of 2 professional soccer / multi-purpose sports fields and a 72-room student campus for groups and international visitors to come to Gold Coast for training. Plus, it provides local sportsmen the opportunities to improve their games.
