Meet the Nominees: 2018-2019 AGM

It is with delight to announce that I will be stepping down from Chair of the IT Forum Gold Coast committee after serving in that position for two years.  One of the responsibilities of the outgoing Chair is to ensure there is a successor who will make the organisation better for the future. I am very excited to support Darren Chapman, who I have nominated for the position of Chair (and so far he is uncontested).  Darren has also been working very diligently over the past few weeks to network with the current committee members as well as general members and I must admit, it has been refreshing to see a renewed energy in the air about the ITFGC.

If you want to find out more about Darren and the rest of the nominees, come to the meeting.  Also, as there are still positions (seats) available on the committee, we will be taking nominations from the floor.  Look forward to seeing you there!  ~ Dr Dion Klein, Outgoing Chair

Darren Chapman [Nominated for Chair]

Darren has been director of a privately-owned software development company since 2009. Specialising in digital signage products and enterprise software development, his software has been deployed and used successfully both internationally and by some of the largest retail corporations in Australia. Darren is equally at home talking with board members of large corporations as with the shop assistant.

From a technical standpoint, Darren is highly experienced and knowledgeable in the c# language and .net platform with continuous professional experience dating back to the first betas of 1.0 in 2001. Having architected and implemented enterprise level applications and tools he also has a deep understanding of many of the technologies within the platform. Recently he has also been working with Angular and TypeScript.

Throughout his professional career he has led teams learning how to positively deliver goals whilst at the same time enabling individuals to develop and grow. A diverse range of working environments including unions, private banks, multinationals and family-owned companies has given him an experience of diverse types of organisations and how to work with and in them.

As a lover of music, he has also performed in bands and as a solo artist to audiences both large and small since the early 1990s. Subsequently, he is comfortable in front of a crowd of people and understands the need to entertain when delivering any message to a group of people.
